RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Purpose
2. Scope:
3.1 Emergency Power Backup:
- Switch off the main supply so that the Emergency Lights get energized by the UPS System.
- Note down the starting time of emergency backup.
- Inspect the whole facility, to check each and every light is illuminated or not.
- Damaged Lights should be replaced or repaired.
- Note down the end time of emergency backup.
The emergency power backup should not be less than 90 minutes.
3.2 Illumination of Lights
- Place lux meter in front of the Emergency Light at a distance of 1 meter.
- Lux Sensor should be right in front of Emergency Light.
- Do measure the lux of every light using Lux meter by setting the meter at Range B as described in the SOP of LUX METER.
- The Lux level should not be less than 250 lux for every light to fulfill the acceptance criteria of illumination.
- Lights having lower Lux Level should be replaced.
Result: Lux of every light should not be less than 250 lux.
3.3 Battery System
- The battery terminals should be properly tight.
- As the batteries used in facility are mostly Dry cell, so no need to check any acidic levels. If there are acidic batteries, then check acid saturation level as well.
- The battery should not heat during operations, in case of warming effect occurrence, replaces that battery.
- The battery system should be sufficient/efficient enough to meet the energy demand of the Emergency Lights connected to it.
- Battery system should be cleaned using air blower.
3.4 Light Type
- The Light Type which are used for emergency are mostly LED Black Slim Reflector.
- Lights used are of 10 Watt.
3.5 Cleanliness
- Every light should be cleaned.
- Use stair to reach the light.
- Clean the light using shiner and cloth.
- Cleaning of the lights is important, because it decreases the lux and overall fruitful efficiency of the light.
3.6 Erection
- The Emergency Lights are erected/installed in such a way that their focused light should illuminate the emergency pathway and corners as per the demand of building safety inspection team.
- The emergency lights should be proper and tight to their fix point, do tight the loose or tilted lights.
