Procedure
The procedure is given below;
Procedure for closing high voltage and low voltage panels
Electrical panels are utilized to transfer electricity to the rest of the circuits. Numerous electrical switch gears such as lighting system, interfaces, protection circuits, SFUs, switch fuses units such as MCB, MCCB, ELCB, etc.) and many nut bolts are contained inside electrical panels. They are loaded with several circuits such as motors, heaters, sewing machines, boilers, and other circuits, among others.
Follow these instructions if you plan to maintain electrical panels such as high voltage panels and low voltage panels.
Plan two days ahead of time and notify the appropriate HOD of the whole department about the maintenance of high voltage panels and low voltage panels. So that everyone involved is aware of it.
Assemble all supplies and equipment needed for panel repair, such as a spanner set, insulating tape, silica gel (if you have a transformer), screwdriver set, and any 4/c cable and spare components that are required.
If you are planning a complete shutdown, arrange the diesel for the diesel generator or the gas for the gas generator and consult with your electrician or technician about the tools that will be needed.
An essential aspect of the high voltage and low voltage shutdown method is to set up a backup power supply for emergency equipment such as a fireman, UPS, PLC, and so on.
Now switch off all high and low voltage supplies, including incoming and outgoing. In addition, use lock out tag out (LOTO).
Then put up a board with the name and mobile number of the working electrician or technician with information about the shutdown in substation. You have to make earth connection with the incoming and outgoing feeders for safety purposes. If the capacitor bank is installed, it will also discharge the feeders. You should always use this method. To get the best performance, you need to create an inspection list and inspect the equipment accordingly.
Upon completion of the work you should remove the earth connection with the feeders for safety purposes. Charge the panel now.
Note: Please never rush when restoring power. Work with enthusiasm and comfort.
Substation maintenance instruction list
Awareness notices with dangerous high voltage and unauthorized individuals are banned should be displayed outside the substation.
Adequate illumination should be provided within the substation.
High and low voltage panels should have safety warnings attached.
The air ventilation within the substation must be adequately managed.
Inside the substation, an insulated mat should be installed in front of the panels.
An artificial respirator should be installed within the substation.
The substation should be thoroughly cleaned, and there should be no oil on the ground.
Emergency lights should be present and operational.
Signs for the entrance and emergency exits should be erected.
On high and low voltage panels, clear and permanent identifying signs should be provided.
